Business Maps

Map Works supplies ready-to-hang maps for a wide range of business types. We have supplied maps for businesses providing services within a particular area, for example - distribution & delivery, care visiting & estate agents. They look smart in offices and more relaxed areas, for example, hotel lounges.

Our maps are framed to a very high standard, using conservation quality mounts, float glass and a conservation quality backing board. The inkjet prints are cold mounted onto board to ensure they remain stable and do not 'cockle' or 'wave' due to temperature and humidity changes, providing longevity of the finished product.

If your postcode centred map brings in unwanted features such as built up areas or an expanse of coastal water, we work with you and adjust the map until we reach the coverage that meets your needs.

Add a logo or title to promote your business.

Maps with mounts are 960mm x 960mm to 1040mm x 1040mm, dependent on your frame choice.

Maps with a key, no mount, are 1060cm high x 950mm wide to 1020mm x 1010mm. dependent on your frame choice.

Cockling Or Waving

This is a very good example of 'cockling' of a print. This was brought to me for refurbishment, the frame and backing was intact but the map had to be replaced.

This is caused by fluctuations in temperature and humidity. The paper tries to expand and contract but where it is restricted it can't move, so the result is the paper cockles. The Ordnance Survey maps are printed on a fairly thin paper base, the thinner the paper, the more prone the paper is to cockling. This is an irreversible problem.

We have always cold mounted our maps before framing to prevent this problem occurring, I was pleased when they brought this in as it showed what would happen otherwise!

With frame only purchases - with or without a mount, we advise the customer on how to minimise this problem happening.
